Career Day...What a Success

Today, all the juniors enjoyed an experience going to sessions with speakers in areas in which they might be interested in for their future. Watching our students interacting, asking questions and thinking about their futures was in a word, awesome. One of the most amazing sights to be seen was at the end of one of the sessions when each and every student in the room walked by each of the panel members, shook their hands and thanked them. This is what Lakeland represents: a community where our students appreciate those people who look out for them and who are willing to give thanks for these people. Lakeland is full of amazing young people who often do not get the credit they deserve because of perceptions of teenagers or of foolish nicknames for our school. I am proud each and every day of these students who want to succeed and who represent their generation with pride. We should all be proud of our students each and every day.

I want to acknowledge our school to work director, Jenny Alfano, who put together this amazing program. It is the dedication of Ms. Alfano that ensures that our students are aware of the opportunities in their future. She deserves our thanks and if our student came home and told about today feel free to email her at alfanoj@huronvalley.k12.mi.us and thank her for putting your students future first.
